ANIMAL and PLANT TOXIN

Animal toxin
* toxins that are produced by animals. It is naturally present in their system.


* We can be affected by their poison through ingestion, bites, or even exposure.


* As we looked on animals, it seems that they are not harmful, but we never know that certain animal can harm a person and cause death to it. So whenever we encounter animals, make sure that we take good care of ourselves from them.

Snake Venom - it is produced by snakes, their main weapon for protection for those who they think their enemy. It is also used for  attack and to facilitate their digestion.
Humans acquire venom by snake bite, which can be poisonous and fatal.




Box Jelly Fish - produced primarily from jelly fish. Humans can acquire this poison by exposure (e.g touching) the venom is injected to the skin and can cause cardiorespiratory failure.





Hymenoptera venoms (honeybees, wasps,
hornets) - it is have been known for long period that these insects contains the histamine which causes hypersensitivity reaction.





Plant toxin 
* toxin substances that naturally present in plants.

*Human fatalities caused by poisonous plants - especially resulting from accidental ingestion.


*It can also be fatal if you failed to avoid these poisonous plant.

nicotine - an alkaloid poison that occurs in tobacco; used in medicine and as an insecticide
strychnine - an alkaloid plant toxin extracted chiefly from nux vomica; formerly used as a stimulant
brucine - a bitter alkaloid poison resembling strychnine and extracted from nux vomica
hemlock - poisonous drug derived from an Eurasian plant of the genus Conium; "Socrates refused to flee and died by drinking hemlock"
toxin - a poisonous substance produced during the metabolism and growth of certain microorganisms and some higher plant and animal species
mycotoxin - a toxin produced by fungus.
curare, tobucurarine - a toxic alkaloid found in certain tropical South American trees that is a powerful relaxant for striated muscles; "curare acts by blocking cholinergic transmission at the myoneural junction.

MY ANTERIOR

Oh pituitary gland, you are the master gland.
Secretes a battery of hormones by the gland.
You have the anterior and posterior gland.
Anterior is the topic, and yet I must describe it.

Oh anterior! You are incredible!
Secretes seven hormone, that’s unbelievable!
Thyroid stimulating hormone is the first.
Thyrotropin is the other name considered best.

The second one is the FSH.
To remember this, just think of a fish.
Luteinizing hormone is the third.
A hormone related to men and women.

Prolactin is the forth.
Purpose of it is after giving birth.
Growth hormone is the five.
Deficiency of it affects life.

ACTH is the sixth one.
Produces different oids at a time.
Oh it’s the last!

Endocrinology, Toxicology and Drug testing (CC3)

Endocrinology - is a branch of science that deals with the study of endocrine system;
concerned with the storage, chemistry, hormones function and secretion. Endocrinologists is the term applied for those who diagnose and treat conditions which are primarily related to the endocrine system.


Toxicology - a study that primarily concerned with chemicals that affects living organisms. It  also deals with poisoning, how the poison works and what it does into the body of one.


Drug testing - is a way on how to identify the type and possibility of a legal and an illegal drugs taken by a person. It is extremely accurate and reliable test performed by most of the laboratory.
Drug testing can be perform just by small amount of samples from our body. Most commonly requested sample is the urine; other sample may be fingernails, saliva, hair and blood.
